Experience
I graduated from Washington State University where I worked as a chemistry department tutor. After college I worked pathology, which I found to be rewarding, but I missed tutoring and decided that I was missing my true calling. I am now pursuing teaching full-time as a high school chemistry teacher. While tutoring, I found many students praised the help I was able to offer and they came to rely on my help to get through difficult concepts. My style of teaching is to deconstruct and use visuals when I can to break down complex ideas. I like to make math tangible and not rely on memorization. I have found that mastering the demanding subject of chemistry requires a certain mindset and the right tools. I enjoy passing my knowledge to students and equipping them with the right tools. I like to help with some of the familiar pitfalls and give test and exam strategies to help in the areas where most students struggle. I enjoy working with the needs of my students, whatever the needs may be. I can also tutor in Physical Chemistry, Algebra 1 and 2, and general math and science. My hobbies are backpacking, kayaking, and tennis.
