Experience
I graduated with the highest honors from Boston University in Biomedical Engineering with my graduate work focused on researching the effects of deep inhalations on mild-to-moderate and severe asthmatics in a hospital setting using Hyperpolarized Helium MRI imaging. My background in engineering and specifically biomedical engineering has given me a solid foundation in math, science, and physiology. My ability to draw examples from each discipline and link them together is stemmed from my education and training. All throughout my college and graduate school years I always tutored different subjects (math. chemistry, physics, solid biomechanics), all which I have truly done with a passion. My passion got me an award during my graduate school years when I was voted the best Graduate Teaching Fellow of the year by the undergraduate students for teaching Solid Biomechanics. I have 5 plus years of private math tutoring experience, with most of my students being 5th grade - 9th grade students. I tailor my teaching to the students' needs. I have worked with students who have hated math and through strengthening their abilities and understanding of the subject I have been able to instill an inclination and draw towards the subject. Dare I say even a liking towards math! I apply every day examples, (money, allowances, grades, etc. ) to reinforce how tangible, applicable, and necessary math is to every day life. I also have worked with highly capable students as a math coach and spent a year training 5th-8th grade students at St. Paul's Academy in Bellingham, WA for the WA state Math Championships. They successfully placed amongst the top 5 in the regional competition.
